In a chapter in Harmful Algal Blooms, on containment and mediation of harmful algal blooms on aquaculture operations, Prof. Rensel presented me with a challenge: to show the application of micropore diffusion to create upwelling of clear water within a bloom field. At the time the practice was fairly new and no pictures or adequate illustrations existed to show the system in operation. As refeence for this illustration, I used images I had taken off Ensenada (where there is heavy aquaculture) with 3d renderings of equipment the manufacturers provided, and a bit of Illustrator to create these images.
