Benthic Ecology Meeting 2016 Poster and web package

This was a fun poster to do for one of the conferences I attend fairly regularly for my own science. The Benthic Ecology Meeting is always fun, enlightening and filled with talks on great diversity of creatures and processes that affect the sea floor community. Did a poster, shirt design and web presence for the conference as a package.

The really fun bit for this one was that all the organisms included (for a "typical" near shore New England benthic ecosystem) were painted from my own underwater photos of the creatures.

Oh and oysters are still very frustrating to illustrate (unless you are going full cartoon mode. nope, even then). So hard to not have them read as a "generic rock" without spending _way_ too much time on them. The Kelp was fun as for once the best method to portray their essence was to just totally relax, loosen up and use long painterly flowing strokes. Something I rarely get to do with most illustrations.

IIRC there are 32-33 species represented here from fish to algae.
