Harmful Algal Blooms: A Compendium Desk Reference (Cover)

Cover design for Harmful Algal Blooms: A Compendium Desk Reference - this was a big project that I did all of the book design and layout, working closely with the publisher (https://www.wiley.com/en-us/Harmful+Algal+Blooms%3A+A+Compendium+Desk+Reference-p-9781118994658) to get the client's desired look for so much of the book. Most of the chapters comformed to their regular layout styles, but several required a different layout for the content, e.g., https://eheupel.artstation.com/projects/B1awe4). Of course, I also went through all the figures, images, and diagrams in the book to ensure they met the printing process's needs and the needs of the authors and editors. I created several original diagrams (e.g., https://eheupel.artstation.com/projects/mDO3dy) and reworked many illustrations and charts. The image used in the cover is a layering of 2 images of coastal algal blooms and a third image of a shallow intertidal sea bottom taken in a non-bloom time with a polarizing filter (to eliminate reflection and glare from small surface waves). Then all that is under a color ramp/abstract image of Harmful algal bloom colors observed in the wild.
