National Shellfisheries Association asked me to organize and run a "film fest" at their annual conference in Baltimore. I worked with the conference center to setup a room for up to 40 in a comfortable dinner theater style with cocktail and dinner round tables around the perimeter of the room and theater style seating for 20 people in the center front. The room had a continuously running collection of documentaries, movies and outreach videos related to shellfish, shellfisheries, and related challenges.
Outside the room and at the registration desk I designed this poster using a photo of the amazing Senator Movie Theater. The Senator is an Art Deco era movie theater that is on the National Register of Historic Places. It opened in 1939 showing "Stanley and Livingstone" starring Spencer Tracy and Nancy Kelly. I changed the angle (perspective issues from an off center photo) extended the front facade to allow the movie listings, replaced the Neon text on the main marquee and added movie posters from some of the films and documentaries to the ticket booth/entry area. Also had to remove a car, replace some of the background to match etc etc. Main background done in Photoshop, white background text area in InDesign. Printed at 42" wide 300dpi.
